Hey everybody! So I have not done an AuthorOnWheels movie review since Christmas, so I decided to review one for you.

As you can tell by the title of this article, I am reviewing the movie “Color My World With Love” starring Lily D. Moore and David DeSanctis.

Moore’s character is Kendall, a typical 22 year old college girl who loves to bake, paint and has a job.
DeSanctis’ character is Brad, who has a part time job running a t-shirt business and has a heart of gold.
Now you’re probably looking at this and wondering “Isn’t this just like every other Hallmark movie shown around Valentine’s Day”, and I’ll be quick to tell you that no it is not because both of the lead characters like yours truly here, have a disability, and their disability is Down Syndrome.

Kendall lives with her mother Emma (played by Erica Durance), a woman who proves throughout the movie that she will do anything and everything to make her daughter’s dreams come true, whether it be planning her schedule, finding her a suitable living arrangement or posing for a painting that’s not even hers so that her daughter doesn’t feel let down.

Early on in the movie, Kendall’s grandmother Bev (played by Karen Kruper) and Kendall’s mother are at odds as to handle the fast moving relationship between Kendall and Brad when he proposes randomly during a party.

Brad’s caregiver Nic (played by Benjamin Ayres) encourages Emma to allow Kendall to step outside of her mother’s comfort zone, be an adult and live her life.
A hesitant Emma gradually starts to release the reins only at the behest of Kendall, Brad, Nic and Bev.

Nic tells Emma about the housing development he is building for people like Brad and Kendall, Emma reluctantly tours one of the building sites and the interior decorator side of her unleashes, prompting Nic to offer her the job of housing development designer, which Emma grabs at and flourishes.

During the course of the movie, we see not only the relationship of Brad and Kendall take a few turns but we see a new relationship building between Emma and Nic, although later on when Brad and Kendall prematurely end their relationship both parties seem to believe it’s their newly budding relationship that is splitting the latter half apart, so they decide to remain friends for Brad and Kendall’s sake, and happily at the end of the movie, all ends well with Brad and Kendall having the wedding of their dreams with all of their family and friends in attendance, including Kendall’s estranged father whom she asks to walk her down the aisle, after much hesitation all around, he finally agrees and all lived happily ever after.

My thoughts on this movie are that even though both actors are disabled, it does not matter because LOVE IS LOVE. Love whoever you want, no matter how the world views it.

Even as a disabled person, you are still capable of the love you deserve, and nobody can take that right away from you.

As a 28 year old disabled author, chef and advocate, I strive to learn more about the inner workings of disabilities and relationships, and this movie definitely opened my eyes to things I had never thought of.

Overall I give this movie a 10/10, not because of the story but because of the active participation of disabled actors who are not afraid to let their disability get in their way when it comes to telling their story, which as you all know is the main message of AuthorOnWheels.

I highly recommend this movie to those with disabilities who may be struggling in a current relationship or struggling to find the one that is meant for them.

My advice to you is “Don’t give up, keep your head held high and reach for the stars”

You are all winners in my eyes, and that’s the truth.

Before I end this, let me ask you a question: I tell my story on wheels, what about you?

See you soon.
